Roscommon remain unbeaten in Allianz league division two as Anthony Cunningham’s men drew 12 points apiece with Derry at Dr. Hyde Park.
The Rossies led 0-8 to 0-4 at half-time before a second-half comeback saw Derry claim a share of the spoils.
The game was laden with drama as 18 cards were brandished, while both sides finished the game with 14 men.
Roscommon started impressively and led 0-5 to 0-2 on 17 minutes; Donie Smith registered two points while Niall Daly, Enda Smith and Conor Cox were also on target.
Shane McGuigan reduced the margin to two points on 22 minutes before a brace of points from Donie Smith made it a double-score game at half-time.
Roscommon moved six points clear within four minutes of the restart. Cian McKeon and substitute Cathal Heneghan added a point each.
The Derry onslaught followed and parity was restored with 12 minutes remaining as Brendan Rogers levelled the game; the sides were now tied at 11 points each.
Roscommon were down to 14 men heading into injury time as Niall Daly received a second yellow card before Shane McGuigan edged the visitors in front by slotting over a point.
Roscommon were holding out for a hero and two minutes into injury time substitute Keith Doyle obliged by landing the equalising score.
McGuigan was dismissed deep into injury time as the match ended level. Roscommon now occupy third place in the division two table and are one point adrift of today’s opponents.
