Roscommon missed out on a Connacht final place following a 1-13 to 1-9 defeat at the hands of Galway at Dr.Hyde Park.
The Rossies recovered from a bad start and drew level 19 minutes from time. The visitors found another gear however and claimed a narrow victory.
The sides were tied at three points each on 17 minutes. Ciaran (two) and Diarmuid Murtagh on target for the Rossies.
The hosts failed to score for the remainder of the first half and four successive points saw Galway lead 0-7 to 0-3 at half-time.
Roscommon began the second half in blistering fashion and amassed 1-3 in the space of six minutes.
Ciaran Murtagh landed 1-1 including a goal on 41 minutes while Cian McKeon and Conor Daly registered a point each.
Matthew Tierney opened Galway's second-half account on 49 minutes. Tierney and Ciaran Murtagh subsequently traded points bringing the sides level two minutes later.
The Tribesmen moved four points clear on 54 minutes. Dylan McHugh's effort came crashing off the post and the rebound was duly fired home by Damien Comer.
Three minutes later Cian McKeon slotted over Roscommon's first score in seven minutes. The hosts were still four points behind.
The sides traded a point each thereafter as Roscommon suffered a four-point defeat in the end.
