Leitrim tasted defeat for the second straight weekend after losing to Louth at Avant Money Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.
Leitrim led seven points to six at the break but Louth were a rejuvenated side in the second half.
Louth made the better start to the game and Mickey Harte’s men led five points to one at the first water break.
Shortly after the restart, Conor Grimes stretched the lead to five points with an advanced mark but the Wee County would then fail to score for the remainder of the half.
Terry Hyland’s side eventually got into their stride and they hit six points without reply to lead by a single point at the interval.
Keith Beirne (four), Mark Plunkett (two) and Conor Dolan (one) were on the score sheet for Leitrim in the opening half.
Louth completely dominated the next quarter and they led 12 points to eight at the second water break.
The visitors picked up where they left off upon resumption and six scores on the bounce stretched their lead to ten points with three minutes of normal time left.
Leitrim eventually ended their barren spell in the first minute of injury time thanks to a 45 metre kick but Louth held on for a ten-point victory.
