Limerick athlete Sarah Lavin and Offaly golfer Shane Lowry will be Ireland's flag bearers for the Olympic Games in Paris.

While, Shane Lowry is competing in his second Olympic Games, having competed in Toyko 2020.

The opening ceremony gets under way at 7pm on the River Seine. It is the first time the opening ceremony is not taking place in the Olympic stadium.
