Sligo and Kildare opened group three of the All-Ireland football championship with a 14-points a-piece draw.
David Quinn’s late point snatched a points for Sligo at Markievicz Park. The Connacht championship runners-up opening their campaign with a draw.
The group three opener was a tight fair throughout, Kildare leading at half-time seven-points to six.
The Lillywhites looked set for victory with points from Aaron Masterson, Darragh Kirwan and Jack Robinson (free). Leaving the game 14 points to 11 with three minutes of normal time remaining.
Sligo’s Sean Carrabine saw red on 67 minutes, the hosts battled back with substitute Quinn kicking a last gasp point for a share of the spoils.
Sligo are set to meet Roscommon in Dr Hyde Park in round two of the championship, on the June bank holiday weekend.
Kildare will host Dublin in Nolan Park the same weekend. Before that Dublin and Roscommon get their campaigns underway when they meet in Croke Park on Sunday May 28th.
