Sligo see off Roscommon to land the Connacht minor football championship for the first time since 1968 with a convincing win over Roscommon.
The Yeats county were always the better team landing a 19 points to 1-11 win in Dr Hyde Park.
Sligo led five points to no score after seven minutes through Brian Duffy, Luke Marren (3) and Joshua Flynn.
Roscommon’s first score was a goal through Shane McGinley on eight minutes. DJ Hession and Oisin O’Flaherty added points.
Luke Marren added another point for Sligo on 11 minutes with Ryan Conlon and Bobby Nugent scoring points for Roscommon making it 1-4 to six minute as Roscommon led the first water break.
It was the only time Roscommon led in the game as Sligo added points through Kyle Davey and three frees from Luke Marren.
Shane Walsh and Robert Nugent sent over points as Sligo led 10 points to 1-6 at half-time.
Sligo found scorers in the second-half through Brian Duffy (2), Jack McGovern (5), Luke Marren (2) and James Donlon.
Roscommon responded with scores through Paddy Higgins, Bobby Nugent (2) and Shane McGinley (2) but it wasn’t enough as Sligo see off Roscommon to win out 19 points to 1-11.
