Sports events will be reduced to 50% capacity under new covid-19 guidelines announced by the Taoiseach.
After receiving advice from NEPHT from Sunday outdoor sports events will operate with a reduced capacity of 50% of the venue or 5,000 spectators.
Indoor sports events will be reduced to 50% capacity or 1,000 spectators.
Cabinet has also agreed that the measures stay in place until 30 January, but this date will be kept under review.
The measures will impact heavily on the Leopardstown Christmas racing festival and the interprovincial rugby matches scheduled for Christmas.
The GAA season is set to resume from January four when Sligo face Leitrim in the Connacht centre of excellence dome.
While the O’Byrne Cup and McKenna Cup are due to begin the following weekend.
