St. Brigids claimed an 18th Roscommon senior title with a one point win over Boyle.
Brigids winning out 12 points to 11, as the long wait for Boyle continues, despite a big fight back.
The sides were tied five points a-piece at half-time. Shane Cunnane scoring two points for Brigids along with points from Ben O’Carroll, Paul McGrath and Brian Stack.
Boyle, never led in the first-half, Cathal Feeley, Niall O’Donnell, Cian McKeon, Donie Smith and Enda Smith all fighting back with points.
Brigids turned the screw in the opening stages of the second-half. Two Ben O’Carroll frees either side of a Shane Cunnane point moving Brigids three points ahead.
Donie Smith kicked Boyle’s first point of the second-half on 43 minutes. Oisin Cregg brought it back to a one point game.
However, Conor Hand from play and a Shane Cunnane free restored Brigids three point advantage. Brigids found themselves four clear with 12 minutes to play.
However, Boyle were not done. Niall O’Donnell, Tadgh McKenna and a 59th minute Cian McKeon free made it a one point game.
Vice-captain Paul McGrath stepped up to put two between as the teams head into injury-time.
Cian McKeon responded with a point almost immediately as Boyle went direct from the restart.
As time ran out, Boyle had a chance to send the game to extra-time. However, McKeon couldn’t convert a 30-metre free as Brigids won out 0-12 to 0-11.
The victory was the first Fahey cup for St. Brigids since 2020! The Roscommon champions will face Sligo champions Coolera Strandhill in the Connacht championship. Coolera beat St Molaise Gaels to claim the Sligo title.
