St. Dominics advanced to the Connacht intermediate final after a convincing victory over Aughnasheelin.
The Roscommon champions won out 1-12 to five points, having led 1-8 to three points at half-time.
Aughnasheelin started well and led two points to one after five minutes thanks to two Fintan Fitzpatrick frees. However they would only add one more point before half-time.
Darren Donnelly was in in excellent form in the first-half registering five points. Daire Keenan’s goal two minutes into injury time ended the game as a contest. Dominic’s leading by eight at the break, 1-8 to three.
Gavin Sammon got his second point of the game and the first for the Leitrim side 15 minutes into the second-half. A Donnelly free and a Keith Doyle point from play had Dominic’s seven clear at that stage.
Sammon saw red two minutes later putting the game well beyond Aughnasheelin.
Doyle added two scores for Dominic’s, Aaron Hoare found Aughnasheelin’s fifth point of the day.
It was the Roscommon champion’s day as they won out 1-12 to five points and will now face Galway’s Dunmore in the Connacht IFC final.
