St Mary’s KIltoghert reached the last four of the Leitrim senior football championship following a 3-11 to 1-7 victory over Aughawillan at Avant Money Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.
Morgan Quinn grabbed the game’s first goal on four minutes for Aughawillan before two quickfire goals saw St. Mary’s lead 2-4 to 1-5 at the first water break.
Diarmuid Kelleher found the net for Denis Connerton’s men on 14 minutes before Robbie Lowe added another goal within 60 seconds.
Aughawillan registered two of the next three scores but still found themselves trailing 2-5 to 1-3 at the half-time break.
St. Mary’s dominated the third quarter and a goal by Alan Doherty helped them to a ten-point lead at the second water break.
Aughawillan finished the game with 13 men after Noel Plunkett and Fergal McTague were both shown red cards in the final quarter.
St. Mary’s outscored their opponents three points to two in the final quarter and they marched onto the semi-finals after finishing with ten points to spare.
