St Mary's were crowned Leitrim senior football champions following a 0-11 to 1-7 victory over Mohill at Avant Money Pairc Sean MacDiarmada, writes Jack Gannon.
St Mary's got the first score of the game as Paul Keaney converted a free on two minutes before Mohill responded with two successive points in the form of Alan McLoughlin and Keith Beirne.
Keaney brought the sides level with his second free of the game after 12 minutes before Oisín Madden put Mohill a point up with a great score just two minutes later.
Paul Keaney restored parity with another free after 23 minutes. Two minutes later Keith Beirne got his first score from open play as Mohill led 0-4 to 0-3.
On 28 minutes Alan Tuthill got a stroke of luck as he found the net after capitalising on a mistake from Sean Reynolds. Keith Beirne added another score as Mohill led 1-5 to 0-3 at half-time.
St Mary’s registered the first score of the second half as Keaney converted his fourth free on 32 minutes. Keith Beirne replied with a fantastic point for Mohill five minutes later.
St Mary’s responded with five unanswered points in as many minutes to level the game. Oísin Bohan, David O’Connell, Jack Casey, Conor Farell, and Adam Reynolds were all on target.
Keaney and Jack Casey followed up with points which gave St. Mary’s breathing romm heading into injury time.
James McGrail was shown a black card one minute from time, however going down to 14 men didn’t phase St Marys.
Alan Flynn’s men held firm to claim a sixth ever county title and a first triumph in nine years.
