St. Mary’s Kiltoghert took another step toward the semi-finals of the Leitrim senior championship, dismantling Gortletteragh by 17 points.
St. Mary’s scoring a 2-14 to three point victory, conceding just one point in the second-half.
The sides exchanged points in the opening minutes, but from then on it was the Carrick side who dominated. Oisin Bohan’s point putting St. Mary’s a point ahead.
A minute later Brian Keaney collected Paul Keaney’s ball and rattled it to the back of the net. Bohan and Brian McKenna added points to make it 1-4 to 0-1 on 24 minutes.
Gortletteragh keeper Niall Tiernan made a decent save with his legs to deny Mark Diffley a goal, by this stage St. Mary’s were in complete control.
Strength and condition weighting in the Carrick’s sides favour. Whereas, Gortletteragh retreated at restarts, attempting to contain their visitors.
It was to no avail however. A Paul Keaney free and Brian Keaney and Conor Hackett’s points from play putting Mary’s 1-7 to 0-2 ahead at half-time. The second Gortletteragh point coming from Nathan Ward on the stroke of half-time.
Mary’s dominated throughout the second-half. Unrelenting in their quest to victory.

Hacket opened the second-half scoring moments from the throw-in. Brian and Paul Keaney adding a point each by the third minute of the half. Paul’s point impressive from just inside the 45m line.
Hackett and the two points from the impressive Paul Keaney (1f) made it 1-13 to 0-2 with 20 minutes to play. Brian Keaney kicking his side’s 14th and surprising final point of the game with 15 minutes remaining.
That wasn’t due to St. Mary’s dropping off or Gortletteragh responding. In fact Mary’s would kick three wides in the halves remainder. A total of eight wides in the contest.
The icing was put on the cake five minutes from time. Nicholas McWeeney showing superb vision with an outside of the foot, ball across goal. Niall Tiernan should have done better as Hackett fisted home St. Mary’s second goal.
Gortletteragh did get on the second-half scoreboard thanks to Oran Boyle free. However, there was no doubting St. Mary’s status as they won out 2-14 to three points.
Elsewhere in the Leitrim Connacht Gold Senior Football Championship, Fenagh-St Caillins powered past Annaduff 1-25 to 1-7.
