Roscommon club champions Strokestown fell to a big opening defeat to Clann na nGael as the 2023 championship got underway.
Clann struck two goals in the first-half through Sea Henry and Ferghus Lennon to lead 2-5 to eight points at half-time. While Ciaran Lennon's third goal saw Clann win out 3-13 to 10 points.

Meanwhile, Roscommon Gaels scored a 6-8 to 2-12 win over Boyle. Gaels six goals coming in the first-half.
A Peter Gillooly hat-trick and one each from Kieran Kilcline, Richard Walsh and John McManus saw Gaels lead 6-2 to 0-6 at half-time.
Boyle found the net twice in the second-half through Daire Cregg and an Enda Smith penalty. However, the damage was done as Gaels won by eight points. 6-8 to 2-12.
Elsewhere, St Brigids scored a two point win over Pádraig Pearses. Brigids winning out 11 points to nine in a game where Brigids kicked 17 wide's.
Brigids led seven points to five at half-time. The sides were level with 10 minutes remaining before Bridigs edged in front to win 0-11 to 0-9.

While, Oran scored a four point win over Tulsk Lord Edwards. Oran winning out 0-14 to 0-10.
