This weekend Strokestown golf club hosted the Gerry Callaghan Memorial Classic. Sponsored by Gerrys wife Theresa from Healthy Beings Health Food Store and Noel Lacey of KBS Bikes and TSS.
The event was ran with all proceeds going to Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.
With over five thousand euros raised the event has been a tremendous success. Huge words of gratitude went to all the committee members, Green keepers, ladies committee and all the volunteers who have put in tremendous hours of work to bring the event together.
Winners on the day was the team of Cian Corcoran, James Carroll, Damien Sheridan and Fionn Cusack with 100 points. Second was the team of Martin Kelly, Dónal Cox, Eddie Mylie and Danny O'Connell.
Third place honours went to Ronan Cullen, Frank Costello, Alex Campbell and Austin Trapp. Fourth was Martin McAllister, Richard Glover, Pádraig Conroy and Peter Lally. Fifth place Martin Crinigan, Aiden Cassidy, John Neary and Packie Dowd. Sixth went to Noel Kennedy, Éamon Beirne, Daire Ó'Brion and Paddy O' Brion. Sevent place Pat Connellan, Niall Connellan, Colmán Neary and Stephen Ó Connor.
Eighth spot Gerry King, Pat Connellan, Brian David and Michael McGowan. Ninth place was Michael Brennan, Joe McGrath, Frank Conmy and Jimmy Flannigan. Cian Corcoran won the longest drive while Nearest the Pin went to Martin Murphy.
The Ladies competition winners were Rose Lally, Maureen Hanly, Kitty Dowd and Eileen Lyons. Second place went to Martina Feehily, Marcella McDermott, Mary Joe Fahy and Nora Beirne. Ita King won the longest drive, while nearest the pin was collected by Bríd Connellan.

Bumlin folk seniors
Last Tuesday, Tony Patton came out on top after 15 holes, only separated by a count back from Michael McGowan. Third spot went to John Gunn while Martin Kelly took fourth.
The ladies bragging rights went to Eileen Lyons while Margaret Walsh and Margaret Cox were separated by the narrowest of margins for second and third respectively.
This Tuesday the Bumlin Folk are out and about in Portumna Golf Club for the day. Members are reminded the time sheet is up on the WhatsApp.
Junior golfers
Thursday sees the junior golfers continue with tuition by the PGA Pro as part of the continuing development of the junior golf programme. With the summer drawing in, the club are building on the summer sessions with more focus on the skills alongside the enjoyment of the game.

Fixtures
The Strokestown Playground Committee are hosting a fundraising classic in September. The playground has proven a huge success over the years for kids of all ages and especially during lockdown, grandparents have found it especially useful.
