Sean Cox stood atop the podium this weekend with a brilliant score. Second place went to Paul Taylor while Vincent Caulfield filled the podium places.
Despite the noticeable change season, the course is remaining in superb condition. Members are asked to ensure pitch marks are repaired to ensure the greens maintain their superb standards.
Interclub competition
Strokestown Golf Club has been well represented in the 9 Hole Club Interclub Competition. On Saturday the 3 foursome’s teams took to Boyle while four singles matches at home were the battlefields.
The rain that battered the lads in Boyle was polar opposite to the sunshine greeting the singles in Strokestown.
After some well fought tight battles, Strokestown Golf Club came out on top with a match going down the 19th being the deciding factor.
Thank you to Boyle for the hospitality and the fantastic manner in which the games were played out.
Bumlin folk seniors
An inform Tony Patton won the Tuesday senior competition with James Hanley following close behind.
Martin Kelly took the final spot for the men. The ladies bragging rights go to Bernie Taylor. Second and third places went to Margaret Walsh and Rose Lally respectively.
Another fantastic turnout with a full timesheet for the regular competitors.
Junior golfers
The junior golf lessons continue on Wednesday and Thursday with PGA Pro Enda. We have seen a steady improvement in the golfers attending and hope this continues for the duration of the lessons.
Thank you to the volunteers for their efforts and support throughout the course of the junior golfers lessons.
Fixtures
This coming weekend Strokestown Golf Club hosts the Kiltrustan Sports Club and Strokestown Ladies GAA Classic.
Following on from the fantastic weekly sports day on Sunday last and the ongoing success of the Ladies GAA we look forward to welcoming you all to help support two very worthy facilities that many of our young people enjoy.
The next round of the 9 Hole Club Interclub Competition will be announced in the coming days, members will be contacted shortly regarding this.
Point to note
All Members are asked to ensure replacing of divots are carried out on all areas including the practice area especially with the slowing of growth as the year progresses.
Pitch marks also require attention to assist the work that has the greens in the superior level that has been reached. Thank you for your help with these matters.
