Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins maintained their perfect start to the Leitrim senior football championship after a 0-14 to 0-11 victory away to Leitrim Gaels.
The sides were level four minutes from time before three unanswered points saw Ballinamore make it two wins from as many games.
The sides traded two points each inside the opening 11 minutes before Stephen Goldrick’s pointed free gave Gaels a four-point cushion on 22 minutes.
Tom Prior registered Ballinamore’s first point from play on 27 minutes. Paul Moran’s pointed free left one point between them heading into injury time.
Gaels forward Shane Rynn got off the mark on the stroke of half-time. Suddenly, Gaels led 0-7 to 0-5 at the break.
Eunan Treacy opened Gaels’ second-half account within two minutes of the restart. However, Paul Prior’s men failed to score for another 21 minutes.
Ballinamore’s Tom Prior levelled the game on 40 minutes. Further scores from Dean McGovern, Paul Moran (free) and Matthew Murphy gave the visitors a three-point cushion ten minutes later.
The hosts rallied impressively; three points in as many minutes saw Paul Prior’s men draw level. Rynn landed the equalising score four minutes from time.
60 seconds later, Eunan Tracey forfeited an opportunity to edge Gaels back in front. The full-forward dropped a free short.
Ballinamore finished with a flourish. Two points from Dillon Beirne and one from Dean McGovern sealed a three-point victory.
Meanwhile champions St Mary's-Kiltoghert scored a big 3-13 to 0-5 win over Aughawillan, St Mary's currently top the championship table. While, Glencar Manorhamilton beat Dromahair by 10 points, 0-21 to 2-5.
