Tailteann Cup line-up starts taking shape as Longford are confirmed to enter

The 2022 Tailteann Cup is starting to take shape as the championship starts to progress.

Westmeath dumped Longford into the Tailteann Cup with their 3-13 to 14 points victory.

Longford, Fermanagh, London, Antrim, Carlow, Laois, Offaly, Sligo, Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow and Down will all enter the competition in round one.

New York will receive a bye to the quarter-finals.

If Cavan get past Donegal and make the Ulster final they will miss out on this year’s Tailteann. Similar if Westmeath can manage to make the Leinster final.

Leitrim meet Galway in the Connacht semi-final while Tipperary face Limerick. Defeat for Tipp or Leitrim would see them into the Tailteann.

If all four teams enter the Tailteann a preliminary round will be required. This will be an open draw.

Round one (last-16) of the tournament is scheduled for May 28/29. The preliminary round is scheduled for May 21/22.

The final is scheduled to July ninth.
