Tom Butler’s last-gasp point saw Padraig Pearses reach the Connacht club SFC final as the Roscommon champions defeated Mountbellew-Moylough 1-8 to 1-7 at Dr. Hyde Park.
Mountbellew-Moylough led 1-3 to 1-2 at the half-time break before Pearses narrowly shaded the second half to emerge victorious.
Mountbellew-Moylough made the brighter start and a Barry McHugh goal on seven minutes saw the Galway champions lead 1-1 to 0-1 at the first water break.
Pearses subsequently drew level on 22 minutes when Paul Carey found the net before Mountbellew-Moylough went in a point clear at half-time after hitting two of the next three scores.
The Galway men moved three points clear on 37 minutes but Pearses drew level at the second water break thanks to points from Paul Carey, Conor Daly and Ronan Daly.
Gary Sweeney edged Mountbellew-Moylough in front 11 minutes from time before substitute Emmet Kelly restored parity three minutes later.
Mountbellew-Moylough were reduced to 14 men when Matthew Barrett was sent off with a minute remaining before substitute Tom Butler won it for Pearses five minutes into injury time.
Pearses will now play Mayo champions Knockmore in the Connacht final which takes place this coming January.
