Treaty United ended Longford Town’s two-match winning streak as the visitors claimed a 3-0 victory at Bishopsgate.
The game was an ill-tempered affair which saw both sides finish with ten men while Town assistant boss Gavin Peers was also dismissed in the closing stages.
Town have never beaten Treaty since their debut season two years ago. The visitors fully deserved the victory having dominated the game throughout.
Town could’ve opened the scoring 14 minutes in. Jamal Ibrahim connected with Aodh Dervin’s superb cross but couldn’t direct his header on target.
The ball fell to Gary Armstrong inside the box and his effort was easily dealt with by Treaty goalkeeper Shane Hallahan.
Treaty came close five minutes later, Ben O’Riordan latched onto Marc Ludden’s corner and his header forced a fine save from Jack Brady.
On 25 minutes, O’Riordan drew another save from the Town goalkeeper. O'Riordan's shot was saved following slick interplay between himself and Conor Barry.
The opener came from the resultant corner. Ludden’s delivery was headed in by former Town striker Enda Curran.
Treaty almost caught Town on the counter-attack on the stroke of half-time.
Barry recovered possession inside his own half before passing to Curran who in turn found George.
Barry collected George’s subsequent pass inside the box only to be denied by Brady but Town still trailed 1-0 at the break.
Treaty could’ve doubled their advantage within two minutes of the restart. Alec Byrne slipped George inside the box but the Treaty striker missed the target completely.
Penalty ended Longford's hopes
Treaty were awarded a penalty on the hour mark when Cian Byrne was adjudged to have fouled Darren Nwanko.
Enda Curran converted the spot kick sending Brady the wrong way for his sixth goal of the season.
A confrontation followed between Curran and the Town shot-stopper which resulted in the latter being sent off.
It was a second yellow card for Brady who was already booked for dissent before the penalty.
Treaty registered a third goal 15 minutes from time. Stephen Christopher fired home from inside the box after collecting Alec Byrne’s pass
The game was devoid of goalmouth action thereafter but offered plenty of drama nonetheless.
Treaty’s Ben O’Riordan was sent off three minutes into injury time. He pushed Cian Byrne to the ground in frustration.
A scuffle ensued between both camps and Town assistant manager Gavin Peers was also given his marching orders.
Town suffered a heavy defeat in the end. Treaty have now set a new record for their longest winning streak which currently stands at four matches.
