The final round of the Sligo Pallets Irish Forestry championship will be hosted by the Clare Motor club this Saturday.
The club are hosting a forestry for the first time in 42 years and have led on six stages. It being a loop of three stages been run twice.
Stages three and six are both 17km long something that is a rarity in Irish forestry rallying.
Recently crowned champion Derek Mackeral will be number one on the road in his Ford Fiesta R5 as he looks to secure a top six placing to ensure his navigator Eamonn Creedon joins him in the championship success.
David Condell and Andrew Purcell complete the top three seeds also in Fiestas.
Michael Conlon with James McEnaney on the notes are the top modified seeds in their Mark two escort. While former World rally winner Peter Solberg is set to compete in a Land Rover defender.
Speaking to the sports desk, Killan Duffy from "On the Pacenote" remarked that clerk of the course Gerry O'Brien has pulled off a massive coup to have the 2003 world champion compete at the event.
