A young snooker player from Longford is set to be Ireland youngest representatives at the World tour Shoot out in Leicster next month. 13 year old Joe Shannon will compete among seasoned professionals in the tournament that sees games been played over a 10 minute period with a shot clock of 15 seconds for the first 5 minutes and 10 seconds for the last 5. Speaking to the sports desk Joe who hails from Newtownforbes remarked that his interest in the game came from playing pool before moving over to a snooker table where he found his speed suited the shoot out format
Mark Allen claimed the 2023 Shoot out title becoming the first top-16 ranked player to lift the trophy. Shaun Murphy became the first player to make a 147 in the event.
