A young Longford snooker player is set to be Ireland youngest representatives at the World tour shootout in Leicester next month.
13-year-old Joe Shannon will compete among seasoned professionals in the tournament; which sees games been played over a 10 minute period. Three is a shot clock of 15 seconds for the first five minutes and 10 seconds for the last five.
Speaking on Sportsbeat, Shannon from Newtownforbes remarked that his interest in the game came from playing pool before moving over to a snooker table.
Whereas, Shannon he found his speed suited the shootout format.
Mark Allen claimed the 2023 shootout title becoming the first top-16 ranked player to lift the trophy. Shaun Murphy became the first player to make a 147 in the event.
